ABOUT

Hello,

I’m J.F. Burgess, a crime author and professional cover designer with extensive experience in the design industry, both online and offline.

During the 1980s and 1990s, I worked for a Midlands sign company, making thousands of signs and graphics for renowned brands, including Scotts designer menswear stores, Alton Towers theme park, and luxury names such as Armani, Christian Dior, and Chanel. I also worked on graphics and signage for fashion icons like Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, as well as many other global brands in the John Lewis stores.

From 2006 onwards I've worked in online publishing both fiction and non-fiction, and have written over twenty-five books; fifteen of which are top-selling crime novels. I've also written articles for blogs and magazines, and been involved in many massive book marketing campaigns that have netted thousands of sales.

I understand the importance of brand awareness, typography, enticement, and the psychology behind readers’ book-buying decisions.

As a crime author who has sold over 68,905 books and achieved 1 million Kindle Unlimited page reads, I recognise the unique needs of indie authors.

My book covers are truly one-of-a-kind, incorporating the right genre elements and font choices to ensure they are readable at thumbnail size,  and memorable. They help build an author’s brand and can even tie a series together, fitting seamlessly into popular crime fiction genres and sub-genres on online platforms like Amazon.
